Bushra Khanum Nabi creative practice is Embroidery. Bushra has been producing work in relation to culture and tradition within her family. Bushra’s work glamorises the passing of traditions and family history and shows whether or not the culture and tradition has changed overtime or not.

 

She explores the importance of how family traditions and culture are important and valued by her. The artist’s work is highly influenced by the older generation of women within the family and how they used embroidery in their daily lives.

 

The Subversive Stitch by Rozsika Parker is another major influence and has shown a whole different world to embroidery and helped the artist practice a lot. The artists who influence Bushra are Tracy Emin, Grayson Perry and Ana Teresa Barboza.
